Woman Attacked In the Town of Orangeville

Suspect Arrested

(Orangeville, ON.) -The Orangeville Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating an attempted murder in the Town of Orangeville that happened on July 11, 2009.

At about 6:15 pm a 43 year old woman was found with significant injuries in front of a business at 121 First St., Orangeville. The woman had been working at the "Creek Side Clothing Company" when she was attacked. Her vehicle was missing from the scene. The woman was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital where she remains in critical but stable condition.

As a result of further investigation the following person was arrested without incident within the Region of Peel in the early morning hours of July 13th, 2009. He has been subsequently charged with Attempted Murder:

Robert RICHARDS will appear for a Bail Hearing in Orangeville provincial Court on the 13th of July, 2009

The white, 4 door, 2007 Volvo S45, license number AZVZ 680 has also been recovered by police as a result.

The Orangeville Police and the Ontario Provincial Police wish to thank the Peel Regional Police Tactical Unit along with members of the Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) unit for their rapid response and assistance in apprehending Robert RICHARDS.

This investigation is continuing under the supervision of Acting Detective Inspector Paul McCrickard of the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Branch.

DRUG ARRESTS AT HIGH SCHOOL

On Wednesday March 4, 2009 officers from the Orangeville Police Service arrested and charged two males involved in the sale of illicit drugs in front of Orangeville District Secondary School.

At approximately 10:30 a.m .police officers were at the school for an unrelated matter when they received information that two males were possibly attempting to sell prescription drugs to students outside of the school.

Tyler David HARRON, 20, of Orangeville and a 17-year-old male were arrested and taken into custody by police. The identity of the 17 year old is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Both males were in possession of a large quantity of prescription drugs and cash. Further investigation revealed that the drugs had been stolen as the result of a break and Enter to an Oxford Street residence early Tuesday morning.

Among the items seized by police were several syringes and large quantities of Morphine, Dimenhydrinate, Ativan, Cyclobenzaprine and over $1000 in cash.

The two accused males were not students of the school.

The accused males are facing several criminal charges including Possession of Controlled Substances, Possession For The Purpose of Trafficking Controlled substances, Break and Enter and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Both males were held in custody pending bail hearings regarding the allegations in Orangeville court.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

The Orangeville Police Service is investigating a robbery that took place at approximately 8:40pm last night (Wednesday, February 18, 2009) at the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 150 First Street in Orangeville.

A lone male suspect entered the store and approached the pharmacy counter. The suspect demanded that the female Pharmacist give him narcotics. The suspect stated that he had a gun but never produced one. The Pharmacist turned over an undisclosed quantity of drugs. The clerk was not injured as a result of the incident. A witness observed the suspect exit the store and get into a white pickup truck. The vehicle left the parking lot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as male white, approximately 40 years old, 6' tall, thin build, wearing eye glasses, blue pants and gloves. The suspects face was concealed during the incident.
